The winter solstice marks the rebirth of the sun. This is the longest night of the year and from this point onward the sun’s light and power begins to grow. The sun waxes and wanes, similarly to the moon, but over a yearly cycle. The solstices are the turning points. As the sun waxes, it brings more warmth, triggering the cycle of rebirth in the land. Even though winter is hard upon us, there is hope. The days will now grow longer. Yule starts the season of light festivals.

Well Witchlings,

Tonight is a special night! It's a full blood moon, the longest lunar eclipse of the century, Mercury goes into retrograde and Mars is the closest (and most visible) it's been to us in a century. You can be assured that magic is afoot!

I'm not going to go into the meaning of it all as there are articles and blog posts aplenty on the topic. I will say that whether this energy brings you blessings or challenges, it will swing to the extreme.

If it's challenges for you, my best advice is not to fight the energy, go with the flow. Really pay attention to what the energy is highlighting for you. If you are not being realistic with yourself and holding on to illusions (read delusions) this will be a really tough one for you. No...

Putting feelings first is destructive. Yes, I said it.

In this modern age feelings have never been as much of a priority. Perhaps, it’s the burst of freedom as feelings have finally been given a chance at releasing from the collective suppression of emotion we are coming out of. But it must be just that: the burst of energy that happens when an energy build up is released. Powerful and forceful and fleeting.

I think that we tend to confuse respect with making other’s feelings a priority but that is not what respect is. Respect is to hold someone in high esteem. It has to be earned and can can definitely be lost. Respect does include being considerate of others, to consider their feelings before you act. But, that consideration does not m...

May the balance be restored,
between the Lady and the Lord.
Earth below and sky above,
share the blessings of their love.

I wish you all a blessed Beltane filled with joy, love and prosperity. May the fertility of the Goddess and God in spring be present in your lives in the areas you need creativity, life and growth.

Our Beltane maypole celebration got rained out so we celebrated as a family at home this year. We decorated Beltane cookies (one for each of us and one for the fey) and read Beltane stories from Circle Round by Starhawk while gorging on fresh fruit and creme. We danced and celebrated our creativity.

It's the 1st anniversary of our marriage as well so we celebrated each other, our union and our love and the w...

Well I’m back kids! I know it’s been a long time and you were probably wondering, “did she get lost out there?” As you know if you have been following this blog, I travelled for a year experiencing location independence with my family. We travelled all over Canada, the Caribbean and the British Isles this trip. What an amazing experience! Being able to travel like that with my daughter, taking her to see the places and things that we were studying in person, showing her other cultures and customs. Watching how she embraced all the cultures and people we encountered on the road was such a gift to both of us.

My then fiance and now husband had never travelled out of Canada and had only left the province of British Columbia once. It was v...

Jamaicans pray a lot in comparison to any other culture that my daughter has experienced. So by a our 1st big family dinner a few days into our visit she had witnessed a few prayers especially at meals, this meal was no different. Then came the awkward situation when the 8 year old light of my life turned to me and  asked loudly “Mama, who is Jesus?”

It’s in those moments of stillness, of just being, that your inner truths have the space to rise to the surface. It’s in surrender that opportunities and lessons reveal themselves. So, we decided to let “going with the flow” define our itinerary and what has manifested so far has been a pilgrimage to my roots.

Many people feel the desire to create or deepen their spiritual practice. Regardless of religion/belief, culture, age, gender, or skin colour; a yearning for a connection with, and an understanding of, our inner selves and the universe we inhabit is an innate human trait.
